About the collection

A flared abaya, called kloosh in the Gulf, sits close at the shoulders and widens towards the hem, so it moves with every step without clinging. Many designs in the current Novella collection use this cut: a black abaya with a curved asymmetric closure and covered buttons, a black abaya with a shirt collar and vertical seams, an olive abaya with a high collar and fabric-covered buttons, a black abaya with lace at the neckline and cuffs, a navy abaya with a raised floral pattern, and an ivory abaya with a black rose. Choose a neat collar for work, and a pattern or lace for evenings and occasions. On a flared cut any difference in length shows at the hem, so measure your length in the shoes you will wear with it. Every design comes in sizes XS to XL and lengths 50 to 60, and can be tailored to you in Doha.

Before you choose

What is a flared abaya?

A flared, or kloosh, abaya sits close at the shoulders and chest and widens towards the hem, taking a bell shape as you walk. A gentle flare is often called half kloosh, and a wider one full kloosh. The abaya cuts guide compares it with straight and waisted cuts.

Can I wear a flared abaya to work?

Yes, choose a moderate flare, a neat collar and a length that ends just above the floor, so the hem does not catch on stairs or a car door. The collection has flared designs with a shirt collar or a high collar that suit the office.

How do I choose the length of a flared abaya?

Measure from the top of your shoulder to where you want the hem to end, wearing your usual shoes, divide the figure in centimetres by 2.54 and pick the closest length from 50 to 60. If you are between two lengths, send your measurement on WhatsApp before you order.
